According to media reports, Physiotherapist and congress leader from Ponda, Goa, Ketan Bhatikar allegedly died due to snake bite. He was travelling to Dandeli in Karnataka in a car. Some reports indicated that he had got off the car when the snake bit him and he passed away within a few hours.
Reports indicate that a saw scaled viper had bit him, though snake catchers claim it takes at least a few hours for the snake venom to take effect, and most of the hospitals are stocked with anti-venom according to media reports.
The post mortem report is awaited.
Physiotherapist Ketan Bhatikar had contested the Ponda elections and was a candidate for the Ponda By elections which were cancelled.
There is a lot of mystery regarding the death, on youtube Subash Veluskar is demanding an investigation, claiming that there are other cases, where the snake bite was intentional, or a murder case.
